Each of these RF thermostats can be installed DIY so you can set your heating up in a matter of moments, and if you want to manage your infrared panels via app, two of the available thermostats also support WiFi control.

The three thermostats in the Herschel Select XLS Control System will only connect to the SMART-R receiver on the back of the Herschel Select XLS panels. All thermostats can be wall-mounted or free standing and offer straightforward DIY installation options.
The BT Battery Powered Thermostat only needs batteries for power, making this the simplest of the three thermostats when it comes to installation. The PL Plug-in WiFi Thermostat should be plugged into the socket of your choice and is not suitable to be installed in a bathroom. With the MT Mains Powered Thermostat, you have the best of both worlds as you can either choose to hardwire this thermostat or use the micro USB cable with a compatible USB socket.
Both the BT Battery Powered Thermostat and the MT Mains Powered Thermostat are suitable for bathroom installation but must remain in Zone 3, away from the bath and shower to avoid damaging the device. The MT Mains Powered Thermostat must be hardwired when installing in a bathroom.

The Herschel XLS Control System offers three different thermostats for controlling your Herschel Select XLS panels:
- BT Battery Powered Thermostat
- PL Plug-in WiFi Thermostat
- MT Mains Powered Thermostat
All three thermostats vary in their level of control and have been designed to wirelessly communicate via a 35m RF range to the SMART-R receiver built into Herschel Select XLS heaters. Each system has straightforward DIY installation options and comes with a keypad lock to prevent others from tampering with them.
BT Battery Powered Thermostat
The BT Battery Powered Thermostat is an affordable, portable device that comes with manual control allowing you to easily adjust your heating at home. This thermostat offers intuitive functionality, featuring 24/7 programming, holiday mode, open window detection and adaptive start, all of which contribute towards the efficiency of this thermostat. The BT Battery Powered Thermostat can be paired with any of our Select XLS panels and is also the most suitable thermostat for bathroom installation but must be kept in Zone 3. It’s a great choice if you’re only looking for manual control.
PL Plug-in WiFi Thermostat
The PL Plug-in WiFi Thermostat is easy to use, simply plug it into the wall, switch it on and you’re good to go. There are many advanced programming features available through this thermostat’s WiFi capabilities. It offers sophisticated control via the Smart Life app, so you can effortlessly manage your heating no matter where you are in the world. Access features such as holiday mode and smart mode to ensure you’re getting the desired temperature at the right time, whilst also saving on energy consumption. The Smart Life app is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Home, giving you the ability to control your heating through voice commands. The PL Plug-in WiFi Thermostat’s limited manual control only allows you to adjust the temperature of your heating and set a 24-hour timer, which is why this thermostat would be better suited to those who prefer full WiFi programming.
MT Mains-powered WiFi Thermostat
The MT Mains Powered WiFi Thermostat comes with manual programming and WiFi control, providing more advanced options when it comes to managing your heating. Like the BT Battery Powered Thermostat, this thermostat also offers intuitive features such as open window detection and adaptive start, with the added benefit of app control. Simply download the Smart Life app and adjust your heating from the palm of your hand. Create a heating schedule with the 24/7 programming function and set up holiday mode to ensure that this schedule is remembered even if you’ve been away for the week. The Smart Life app also connects to Alexa and Google Home, giving you hands-free voice control over your heating. The MT Mains Powered WiFi Thermostat can be hardwired to the mains but can also be plugged into a compatible USB socket.
