The Herschel Summit can be wall or ceiling mounted using the brackets and accessories provided with the heater. Please ensure it is mounted as per the manufacturer’s guidelines: 2.1 – 2.7m from the floor and at least 300mm away from any adjacent surfaces. The Summit should never be installed any lower than 1.8m from floor level. The surface of the Summit reaches temperatures over 350 °C and in all instances should never be installed in a location where there is risk of physical contact with the heater. The Summit has a cable length of 2m and is not supplied with a plug.
Though infrared radiant heat is not affected by the movement of air, the sensation of far infrared can be offset by persistent gusts and breezes that may come in from open windows, doors or roller shutters. This is because wind-chill can cool your body quicker than the radiant heat will be able to replenish, so please bear these facts in mind when choosing an installation location for your heater.
In an outdoor location, the Summit will heat a maximum area of 9m² at 2.7m from floor level and a minimum of 6m² at 2.1m. For exposed outdoor locations or areas that are prone to gusts and breezes, a quartz or carbon fibre infrared heater may be a better option. In an indoor location at 2.7m from floor level, the Summit can heat areas up to 16m², and at 2.1m from floor level will heat an area of 9m². Though the heated area decreases as it is brought closer to the floor, the heat given off by the Summit will intensify, so please take this into consideration when positioning your heaters.
This product has an IP65 rating which means it is resistant to low pressure jets of water and is completely dust tight. This IP rating provides adequate protection from the elements but please be aware that the Summit’s gentle heat is not effective in exposed locations.

This version of the Summit comes with its own remote control and is a great choice for sheltered outdoor locations that need a source of gentle heat throughout the day. It’s ideal for café and restaurant terraces, as well as exterior work spaces that need supplementary warmth. The far infrared emitted by this heater is as gentle as the heat provided by an infrared panel, but due to its higher wattage it can project heat out with a little more intensity, making it ideal for use in covered exterior spaces. Sporting a chic matt black finish, the Summit will blend inconspicuously into the background of any environment.
The remote control supplied with this model of the Herschel Summit provides convenient heat management with the touch of a button. Energy usage can be minimised by selecting between the heater’s two output stages: 100% output for comfort heating, or 50% output for a gentle background level of heat. The remote also provides users with a handy timer function to further restrict energy usage and prevent instances where the heater may be left on by accident. An interval between 1 – 9 hours can be selected using the easy-read buttons on the remote and the timer will begin to count down, shutting off automatically once the time elapses. This is an excellent feature for commercial spaces as the heaters can be timed to run during business hours then switch off automatically with no direct input required. We also sell a version of the Summit without remote control, which is the model to go for if you want to use the heater inside with a thermostat.
Cutting-Edge Heating Technology
The Summit works similarly to an infrared panel and produces heat using a Kanthal AF wire, an exceptionally hard-wearing element capable of withstanding temperatures up to 1300 °C. As the wire heats up, warmth is spread evenly across the surface of the Summit, providing a comfortable heat that can be used throughout the day. Summit infrared heaters get to full temperature in under 10 minutes so large commercial spaces can be warmed quickly and with minimal effort. Their matt black exteriors and lightweight aluminium housings provide commercial areas with a zero-light heating solution that’s both stylish and discreet.
Summit infrared heaters are designed to be as versatile as possible which is why they have an adjustable wall bracket that allows them to be ceiling mounted if desired. The Summit can be suspended from any height between 2.1 – 2.7m and its heat intensity will change depending on how close it is from the ground. At 2.7m from floor level in an outdoor environment, the Summit has the capability of heating a 9m² area to a lower intensity, which may be more suitable for spaces that only require a background level of heat. When installed at the minimum 2.1m height from the floor, the Summit will heat a smaller area of 6m² but to a higher intensity, which may be the preferred choice for draughtier spaces that require a stronger heat. Though this heater can be fitted at different heights, please be aware that in all instances the Summit should never be installed in a location where there is risk of physical contact with the heater.
The Summit comes with a 2-year manufacturer’s warranty and has an IP65 ingress protection rating which will ensure it’s well protected against the elements if you choose to install it outside. No complex upkeep is necessary with this infrared heater and it will only require the occasional dust down to ensure it’s operating as effectively as possible.
