You only need basic DIY knowledge to mount your Herschel Inspire panels. For wall mounted fitting, you can use the template provided to drill holes and fix the brackets to the walls; then all you have to do is plug the panels into a convenient socket.
When it comes to connecting your panels to the mains, you can either fit a plug on the end of the cable – the best option if you want to be able to move the panels later – or have them hardwired by a professional electrician. Hardwiring into the mains is not a DIY job.
Herschel Inspire panels are suitable for use in bathrooms, provided they are hardwired by a professional electrician in an appropriate location. The panels are IP54 rated, which means they are protected against splashing water. Always defer to the manufacturer’s guidelines about the bathroom suitability of any product.
We always recommend installing your panels with thermostatic controls. A thermostat will control the heat output of your panel, ensuring your rooms stay at the right temperature without wasting energy. A thermostat with programming functionality will also allow you to schedule your heating, helping you save energy by heating only occupied rooms. The Herschel iQ system is a great choice for Inspire panels, giving you thermostat control from one central location. Herschel iQ receivers must be hardwired, however alternative plug-in controllers are available.
If used in a bathroom, Herschel iQ receivers should always be installed outside of any “wet” zones – at least 60cm away from any source of running or splashing water – and should not be installed anywhere where there is risk of contact with wet objects. Common sense should always prevail.
Take care when installing multiple electric radiators or heaters to ensure you do not overload the ring main of your property. If you are unsure, consult a qualified electrician. Electric radiators and heaters can also be connected to your mains supply with a fused spur. This is not a DIY task and must be undertaken by an electrician.

Herschel Inspire mirror panels of 250w, 350w and 420w will be sent by parcel and qualify for free delivery.
Due to their weight, 550w, 750w, 900w and 1250w panels will be delivered on a pallet. Pallet deliveries are charged at just £39.99 per order. This charge covers every item on your order, no matter how many items you purchase. All pallets are delivered roadside so please be aware you will need someone on hand to sign for the delivery and move the item into your property. To avoid injury, we strongly recommend having 2 or more people for the lifting.
If you are ordering multiple different items, we will always endeavour to dispatch your goods together. However, separate dispatches may be necessary if the items you have ordered are being shipped from different locations. Check our delivery page or speak to our customer service team for more information.
Please be aware that delivery times and charges may be increased if you want the items delivered to addresses in the Scottish Highlands & Islands, or outside the UK mainland. This will be calculated when you enter your postcode at the checkout.

Herschel Inspire mirror panels are especially suited to installation in bathrooms as the heated surface of the panel acts as a mirror demister, ensuring the glass is always clear for use. They’re also a must if your bathroom suffers with persistent moisture issues because of the type of radiant heat they use. Far infrared is easily absorbed by walls and brickwork, and as surfaces are kept warm, moisture is discouraged from settling on your walls to keep your bathroom wonderfully damp free. Infrared is unaffected by the movement of air, so even if you run your extractor fan to get rid of any water vapour, you can rest assured that none of your heater’s warmth is being lost.
Installation of these panels must be undertaken by a professional electrician if you want to use them in your bathroom or if you want to have a wire-free finish. However, if you’re planning to use them anywhere else in your home, they can be installed DIY when you attach a plug to the end of the power cable. Inspire Glass panels are designed to be wall mounted with the brackets provided. Inspire panels reach a temperature range of 85 – 95 °C to deliver comfortable far infrared heat that’s perfect for everyday heating indoors.
Thermostats & Controllers
Herschel Inspire panels do not come with in-built controls. This is to protect the lifespan of the products, which will usually extend for decades, well beyond the 10-year manufacturer’s warranty. Rugged and durable, with no moving parts, your Herschel Inspire panels should outlive any digital components. It’s for this reason that we sell thermostats, timers and programmers separately. Your controllers wire in separately, and you can replace them as many times as you want without damaging the panels. This also gives you the freedom to choose exactly how you want to control your panels – collectively or individually, automatically or manually, remotely or directly.
We always recommend installing your panels with a programmable thermostat. Thermostats monitor and maintain temperatures, whilst programmers allow you to set each panel to a heating schedule with different temperatures at different times of the day. This will drastically reduce your energy usage, and ensures your rooms are comfortable whenever you need them. Infrared panels with thermostatic controls can be up to 60% more efficient than traditional convection heating systems. Please be aware that many of our controllers are not suitable for use in bathrooms. Always check individual product pages for further information.
