    The Ecostrad Thermaglo is compatible with DIY fitting, provided it is plugged into a socket with a suitable IP rating. Permanently installing the Thermaglo outside will require the services of a professional electrician as the heater must be hardwired to the mains.

    The Thermaglo can also be installed indoors, either as a wall mounted heater using the brackets provided, or as a free-standing unit when used with a compatible tripod (not supplied). Each Thermaglo comes with a fitted UK plug for indoor use – we do not recommend using the Thermaglo with an outdoor socket during wet weather.

    It is possible to use the brackets provided to ceiling mount the Thermaglo. For more information, please see the installation instructions in the manual. Always ensure that the Thermaglo is installed more than 180cm from the floor and 50cm away from the ceiling and any surrounding walls.

    The IP55 rating of this patio heater means that the housing will prevent the ingress of most fine particles and is resistant against low pressure jets of water. This rating is more than suitable enough for the majority of outdoor installations, however for particularly harsh, exposed locations, you may need to seek a product with a higher protection rating.

Ecostrad Thermaglo heaters provide a more comfortable form of warmth compared to other electric patio heaters and are an excellent solution for sheltered outdoor spaces. The Thermaglo’s stylish modern design and gentler heat can breathe new life into underused terraces and verandas so you can take social gatherings outside without worrying about guests feeling the chill.

The Thermaglo comes with its own remote control and can be set to four different heat output levels: 800w, 1200w, 1600w and its full 2000w. If you prefer a ‘set-and-forget’ style heating system, the Thermaglo also comes with a timer function which can be set for a period between 1 – 9 hours, after which the appliance will automatically switch off.

The Thermaglo has a uniquely sophisticated design with fluid, leaf-shaped panes at either end of the housing. The curved plastic pane on the right of the heater has an integrated LED readout which displays heat levels, timer information and the heater’s current settings. As long as you have a direct line of sight with the heater, any changes can be made from the comfort of your chair using the remote control, however a push button on the side of the heater also allows you to cycle through heat levels manually.

Infrared Heating Technology

Rather than heating the surrounding air as per conventional heating solutions, infrared patio heaters use radiation to provide a direct form of warmth. Radiant heat travels through the air and warms any person, object or surface it comes into contact with for a direct and efficient heat transfer.

The type of infrared used by Thermaglo heaters falls within the mid-range of the spectrum – stronger than the longwave infrared of a ceramic heater, but gentler than the near infrared of a standard quartz heater. The less intense form of heat created by the Thermaglo’s carbon filament bulb is best for sheltered outdoor spaces that don’t require the vigorous warmth of a standard quartz heater.

Installation & Safety

Thermaglo infrared patio heaters come with a rugged IP55 protection rating which makes them suitable for permanent installation outside, however they’ll work just as well in a garage or workshop. A 2 Year Manufacturer’s Warranty comes with these heaters as standard and the lifespan of the carbon element is estimated at 10,000 hours of use.

Ecostrad Thermaglo infrared heaters are supplied with a fitted UK plug for indoor use and can be wall mounted using the hinged brackets provided. They can also be used with a compatible stand if you prefer your heater to act as a freestanding, portable unit. For permanent outdoor installations, the Thermaglo must be hardwired to the mains by a professional electrician. Alternatively, it can be DIY installed when connected to a plug socket with a suitable IP rating.
