Please note: the updated T2 and R2 thermostat and receiver are not compatible with older T1 and R1 legacy products.
This thermostat is battery powered (2 x AAA) and can be wall mounted DIY using the mounting plate and fittings provided. Each unit also comes with a stand if you prefer your thermostat to be freestanding. Please ensure that the thermostat is placed in a location away from any hot or cold spots, and is at least 3m away from any heaters to be used with the system.
Be aware that radio interference can occur where the thermostat is installed near TVs or computers so it is advisable to install the thermostat at least 1m away from any electricals. The range of the thermostat’s frequency is 200m when unimpeded by walls and furniture.
Receivers can accommodate a maximum load of 10 Amps (2300W in a 230V standard supply), however, the manufacturer recommends a load of 8.5 Amps (1955W at 230V) if you will be using your infrared heaters continually. Installation must always be carried out by a professional electrician as each heater you use must be hardwired to a receiver.
The T2 thermostat should not be hung in a bathroom. If you want to control panels in your bathroom, you will need to make sure the panel is wired into the receiver in a location which falls outside the “wet” bathroom zones – namely, at least 60cm away from any source of running or splashing water. Receivers must not be installed anywhere where there will be risk of water contact – whether by dripping, splashing, or touching with wet hands. If in doubt, do not install. Common sense should prevail.
Please note: Building Regs (Part F) since 2006 require new or refurbished bathrooms to possess adequate ventilation (15 litres / second with 15 minute overrun). Where adequate ventilation has not been provided, Herschel cannot accept responsibility for damage caused by moisture in the R2 unit if failure occurs within the warranty period. The warranty for both the T2 thermostat and R2 receiver will be invalidated if they are used with non-Herschel heaters.

WiFi Control & Programming
The R2 receiver acts as a WiFi gateway so that when you make adjustments via your phone, it sends the message to your heaters and updates their settings accordingly. Once your heater is wired into the R2 receiver, all you have to do is pair the receiver to the app, then you can make quick changes to your heating from anywhere in the world! The app lets you make a detailed daily and weekly schedule for your heating so it switches on exactly when needed and is the best way to maximise the efficiency of your panels.
The T2 thermostat comes with a manual programming function allowing you to create a heating schedule for the working week and two separate routines for Saturday and Sunday. Within these schedules, four temperature intervals can be created which allow you to set start times and desired heat levels for your infrared panel. The thermostat also provides access to extra energy-saving features such as open window detection, adaptive start and an eco-mode. Each receiver also has an in-built boost function to provide a 1-hour temporary increase in warmth, without affecting any of your settings.
The thermostat is accurate to ± 0.5 °C and can control temperatures between 5 – 35 °C, making it ideal for most home and commercial applications. A 2 Year Manufacturer’s Warranty is included as standard.
Technical Specifications
This Herschel iQ wireless thermostat kit contains one receiver, although each thermostat can control an unlimited number of receivers. The receivers are able to support a maximum load of 10 Amps (2300W in a standard 230V supply), however, an 8.5 Amp (1955W at 230V) continuous load is recommended if you're going to be using your heaters often. All of the heaters in your system must be hardwired into an iQ receiver in order to communicate with the T2 thermostat. If you want to create separate heating schedules for different areas of your home, you will need to purchase an additional thermostat.
Each thermostat uses a different radio frequency, so if you do decide to use multiple thermostats within your home, there will be no risk of confusion between each signal and the receivers.
