The Herschel California is not suitable for DIY installation and must be installed by a professional electrician.
In indoor locations, at 3.5m from the floor, the California can heat areas up to 14m². At 2.5m from the floor, it can heat an area of 8m². Although the heated area will decrease as the California is brought closer to the floor, the intensity of the heat will increase - so please take this into consideration when positioning your heaters. In outdoor locations, the California can heat a maximum area of 9m² at 3.5m from the floor. At 2.5m from the floor, it can heat an area of 5m². For overly exposed outdoor areas that suffer from heavy rain and winds, a quartz heater may be a more suitable option.
The California can be installed indoors and outdoors, either as a freestanding unit when used with a compatible stand (not supplied), or as a wall mounted heater using the brackets provided. Do not use freestanding patio heaters outside during wet weather – always ensure they are taken inside if it threatens to rain.
The California must be mounted 300mm from the ceiling, wall, or any other structure: it cannot be installed any lower than 1.8m from the floor. When wall-mounting, ensure the California is positioned between a 0° - 45° angle to avoid activating the safety tilt switch. Do not mount the California facing down from the ceiling.
The Herschel California has an IP65 rating, rendering it completely dust tight and protecting it from low pressure jets of water. This rating makes the California suitable for outdoor installation, however, you may wish to opt for a heater with a higher moisture rating for particularly exposed or harsh outdoor locations.

The Herschel California is a 2000w medium-wave infrared heater designed for use in commercial spaces where aesthetics are as important as performance. The California comes with two heater settings and a handy timer function. Using the push-button on the side of the heater or the included remote control, choose from half or full power heating and set the timer for up to 9 hours. The current setting will be displayed on the LED panel next to the power button for easy recognition. All Herschel remote controls use the same frequency, so you can even control multiple Herschel heaters from one remote.
The California is completely silent when in operation and uses a low-glare carbon heating element that offers 10,000+ hours of use, making it ideal for use in busy commercial settings where the harsh brightness of conventional quartz heaters might be too intense.
